Botox is the generic name of a brand and is actually a medicine that uses botulinum toxin produced by a bacterium called clostridium botulinum.
As of now, there are drugs called Dysport and Botox that contain this toxin legally in Turkey. These drugs affect by temporarily inhibiting the contraction of the muscles they are applied to.Although its effectiveness varies from person to person, it ends around 4-6 months. The main areas of use in aesthetic operation are the elimination of dynamic lines between the eyebrows, forehead and crow's feet, reduction of static lines or stopping their progression.
In addition to these, the removal and reduction of platysma muscle bands in the neck area is known as Nefertiti botox. In people who grind their teeth at night, constantly clenching their teeth and related dental disorders and headaches, “massetter” botox is operated to the corners of the jaw to reduce these complaints, while helping the oval image to evolve into a “V” shape in the lower 1/3 of the face.
It can also be used in reconstructive surgery to improve facial hemiplegy or complete facial paralysis, and to eliminate twitching and/or involuntary movements.
In the treatment of migraine, it is also beneficial by operating Botox to different regions such as the temple, neck, back-nose junction in suitable migraine patients with the aim of reducing or eliminating the frequency of pain.
It is known that botulinum toxin can temporarily silence sweat glands. For this reason, its application in excessive sweating of the armpits, palms and soles can be very helpful in eliminating sweating in these areas and the resulting bad smells, loss of hygiene and discomfort.
All botulinum toxin applications can be performed in practice conditions within 5-15 minutes after the application of local anesthetic cream. The person can continue his normal life immediately after the operation.
