BREAST AUGMENTATION

Breast augmentation is one of the most applied surgical aesthetic operations in the world today.

What is breast augmentation?

Breast augmentation is a surgical process that entails enlarging or recontouring a person's breasts. Usually, breast implants are inserted beneath the breast tissue or chest muscles to achieve this. The surgery is frequently selected by those who want to improve their body image, increase the look of their breasts, or restore breast volume that may have been reduced due to aging, pregnancy, or weight reduction.

Outpatient general anesthesia or intravenous sedation can be used to conduct breast augmentation. The average time to conduct the surgery is one to two hours, and recuperation time varies from person to person. It's crucial to remember that breast augmentation has risks and problems, including infection, hemorrhage, scarring, and implant rupture, just like any surgical operation. Before electing to have the operation, it's crucial to go over these risks with a licensed and competent cosmetic surgeon.

In breast augmentation surgery basically two methods are used: augmentation with breast implant and augmentation using the patient's own fatty tissue. Today, the most widely used method is breast augmentation with a breast implant. In this surgery, planning can be made by considering the patient's expectations in line with the current anatomical limits.

Today, many types of implants are brought into use of plastic surgeons due to the advanced technology of implants.

In general terms, implants are divided into different categories according to their height (medium-high-extra high), shape (drop-round), surface properties (microtexture-nanotexture-smooth-polyurethane etc.), content (saline-silicone). A selection is made from these implants features, keeping mind the person's expectations and anatomical structure.

Which method breast augmentation is performed?

There are several types of breast enlargement procedures that are available:

  • Breast augmentation: This is the most popular type of breast enlargement surgery. It involves placing implants (silicone or saline) beneath the breast tissue or chest muscle to increase the size and improve the shape of the breasts.
  • Fat transfer breast augmentation: This type of breast enlargement involves removing fat from another part of the body (such as the thighs or abdomen) using liposuction, and then injecting it into the breasts to enhance their size and shape.
  • Breast lift with implants: This procedure combines breast augmentation with a breast lift to both increase the size and improve the shape of sagging breasts.
  • Breast reduction: While not typically considered a breast enlargement procedure, breast reduction surgery can also result in an increase in breast size by removing excess breast tissue and reshaping the remaining tissue to create a more youthful and lifted appearance.

What should be performed before breast augmenting surgery?

There are a number of things you can do to be ready and ensure a successful and painless procedure if you are thinking about having breast augmentation surgery:

  • Be careful about some medications: Doctor might advise you to steer clear of aspirin and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medicines, which might increase the risk of bleeding or interfere with anesthetic.
  • Express yourself honestly to your surgeon: Tell the surgeon the truth about your medical background, way of life, and procedure goals during your consultation. By using this information, they can decide if breast augmentation is the best surgical option for you and create a unique surgical plan.
  • Locate a trustworthy plastic surgeon: Selecting a board-certified plastic surgeon with substantial breast augmentation experience is crucial. Read reviews, conduct research on possible surgeons, and arrange a session to talk over your objectives and anticipations.
  • Improve your health: Prioritizing your health is crucial before your operation. To increase your general fitness and lower the chance of problems following surgery, give up smoking, consume a nutritious diet, and exercise frequently.
  • It's crucial to stop smoking at least two weeks before the surgery.
  • Make plans for transportation and aftercare: After the treatment, you'll need someone to drive you home, and in the days immediately following, you could want assistance with everyday tasks. Be ready for the healing process: Breast augmentation is a big procedure that necessitates a lengthy healing process. Make plans for assistance with childcare, housework, and other tasks while you're recovering. Load up on nutritious foods, cozy clothing, and any medications or supplies that your surgeon has advised.

It's important to note that any type of breast enlargement surgery carries risks and should only be considered after a thorough consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon.

More than one incision has been defined to perform breast augmentation surgeries, and since these incisions are almost always planned in concealed places, the scars are acceptable in terms of aesthetic.

The breast implants can be placed under the breast tissue, under the muscle or in the dual plane (both under the muscle and under the breast tissue). In any case, this operation does not have a direct effect on breastfeeding, since the breast tissue is preserved. The plan to implant according to the current breast structure and expectations of the person is decided together with the physician before the surgery.

How is breast augmentation surgery performed?

Here is a general overview of the breast enlargement process:

  • Appointment: Consultation is important with plastic surgeon. During this appointment, you'll discuss your goals, medical history, and any concerns you may have about the procedure. The surgeon will also examine your breasts and recommend the best course of action.
  • Anesthesia: Breast enlargement surgery is usually performed under general anesthesia, which means you'll be asleep throughout the procedure.
  • Breast enlargement surgery, also known as breast augmentation or augmentation mammoplasty, is typically performed under general anesthesia. This means that the patient is completely unconscious during the procedure and does not feel any pain or discomfort. During the surgery, the anesthesiologist will monitor the patient's vital signs, including blood pressure, heart rate, and oxygen levels. They may use a combination of intravenous medications and inhaled gases to keep the patient asleep and pain-free. It's important to discuss any concerns you may have about anesthesia with your surgeon and anesthesiologist before the procedure. They can provide you with more information about the specific type of anesthesia they plan to use and answer any questions you may have about the risks and benefits.

  • Incision: The surgeon will make an incision in one of several locations, including under the breast, around the nipple, or in the armpit. The type and location of the incision will depend on your anatomy and the type of implant being used. There are various different kinds of incisions that may be utilized during breast augmentation surgery to insert the breast implants. The anatomy of the patient, the kind of implant being utilized, and the surgeon's preference all play a role in the choice of incision.
  • Implant and closing of incision processes: The surgeon will then place the breast implant either above or below the chest muscle. The choice of placement will depend on your body type and the type of implant being used. Incision process: Once the implant is in place, the surgeon will close the incision with sutures or surgical tape.
  • Healing period: After the surgery, you'll need to rest and take it easy for several days. You may experience some pain and swelling, which can be managed with medication. You'll also need to wear a surgical bra for several weeks to support your breasts as they heal.

Although beauty standards and personal preferences differ greatly among cultures and individuals, there is no one "perfect" breast size or form. What one individual would find appealing or desirable might not be the same for another. Moreover, breasts vary in size, density, and form based on a variety of variables including heredity, body weight, age, hormonal swings, pregnancy, and lactation. Depending on the woman, the breasts may be tiny and perky or bigger and rounder. While some women's breasts are larger towards the bottom, others are more uniformly distributed. The optimal breast size and shape are ultimately subjective and based on individual tastes. Regardless of breast size or form, what matters most is that women be at ease and secure in their own skin. It's crucial to keep in mind that every body is lovely and individual in its own right.

Under favour of the current anesthesie techniques, the patients can spend this period comfortably, although the pain is very low after the surgery. Proper bras should be used for 2-4 weeks after the surgery.

After breast augmentation surgery, women are more confident and happy in their social lives. It is a surgery with a very high satisfaction rate and the result can be observed immediately.
